Nashville Krav Maga Major Announcement

We have exciting news to share with all of our Krav Maga members! Following months of time, energy, and effort, we are very excited to finally announce the opening of our new retail center! We take possession of a new, standalone facility on Friday, June 1.
On Monday June 4th we will celebrate our first class in our new center located at 4200 Kenilwood Dr. Nashville, TN 37204.

The location is off I-65 between Armory exit and Harding Place Exit.

We very much apologize for all the inconveniences you have endured during these months. We also appreciate your continued patience in this month of May while we transition to our new permanent home. All of us at Nashville very much appreciate our members who have stuck with us during these challenging times and shown strong patience with tight training spaces, poor parking and may other challenges.

Unfortunately, due to forces beyond our control – Effective Thursday May 3rd we will NO LONGER have classes at our FIT Nashville location. We will conduct classes for the month of May at the Cool Springs YMCA at 121 Seaboard Ln. Class times will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday starting at 6:30 pm. At 7:30 pm on those days, we will hold heavy bag classes as well. This will give an introduction to a padded training floor for the Nashville participants and a heavy bag class for the Cool Springs members.

In addition to these training days, beginning on Saturday, May 12 we will hold classes from 9-10:30 am in a different park each week throughout Nashville. This is a pilot program that will encompass all we do at Nashville Krav Maga – fitness, self-defense, and real world, scenario based training. Self-defense doesn’t occur in a gym and neither should our training be limited to the gym! The site for next week’s training will be posted/announced on our Facebook page prior to that Saturday’s event. This is a great opportunity to test your skills and expose your friends and family to what real self defense looks like. This is a pilot program for future training events – if it works, look for more of this in the future after we enter our new space. You have an opportunity to guide the direction of the training!

In addition to the new facility, we are building on a foundation begun by Patrick Terry when he brought Krav Maga to the Nashville area several years ago. The new organization will use that foundation, add local management, a new training space, and your input to create the premier self defense training in the area!

Last, but not least, a big THANKS is due to all of our members. Without you there is no Nashville Krav Maga. Many more changes are coming to our school. Thank you again for your patience in this transitional time and for your continued support. FIT-Nashville Schedule and Format Updates Effective July 18th, 2011

We are very excited to make some announcements about our program Krav Maga Self Defense program at our downtown FIT-Nashville location.

Effective Monday July 18th, 2011 our class times will be updated only at our FIT-Nashville location. Mondays and Wednesdays remain the same at 6:00pm Beginner and 7:00 Heavy Bag/Kickboxing.

Tuesdays and Thursdays will be updated to 6:30-8:30. Saturday classes will be starting at 9:30am-11:30am.

A few format updates include: Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30-7:30pm will be Krav Maga Beginner/Intermediate class including elements of the first two levels of the Krav Maga Curriculum. This class is open to beginners as always but will likely include some more intermediate level curriculum as well. Tuesday’s 7:30-8:30 class will be intermediate/advanced meaning the class will focus on more advanced techniques based on the level of the majority of the group attending. Thursday’s 7:30-8:30 class will be the same as Tuesdays until we introduce our new FIGHT Program. Stay tuned for more information coming soon on our awesome fight program that includes has been a big hit in Memphis for years!

Saturday classes will continue to be Krav Maga All Levels followed by the Heavy Bag/Kickboxing class. The only difference is that we will be starting at 9:30 which will give you a full day to enjoy after your morning workout!

Last weekend our Mid-South Krav Maga Self Defense and Fitness Center in Nashville held a workshop and testing for our Members. EVERYONE who tested, PASSED – so congratulations to everyone. This was a very intense test of endurance, skill, stress management and HEART! GREAT JOB ALL! Welcome to our new Level 2 Members – Billy Smith, Jason Peterson, Grant Dorris, Dennis Tate, Joey Penrod and Robert Parks. Also, kudos go out to several senior members who also participated for the awesome workout and chance to work basic skills under more intense pressure and stress. Great work Danielle, and Chris.

Nashville Level 1 Workshop and Test on Father’s Day

The next Level 1 Workshop and Test is Scheduled for Father’s Day on June 19, 2011.
Head Instructor Patrick Terry will be spending his father’s day with our Nashville Krav Maga family by delivering our next workshop and test in Nashville.

These workshops are an awesome experience which test your skills and ability to function under stress and fatigue. Our testing workshops are known to be very high energy and a large group dynamic is imperative to keep the right environment.

Please let your instructors know and pre-register if you plan to participate. Remember you do not have to test to participate and Level 2 members can take the workshop just for the experience.

Back by poplar demand, Nashville Krav Maga Self Defense Center returns to the Cool Springs YMCA in Franklin. For over 2 years, we have been offering awesome classes in the Nahvile area. We continue to have clases in the downtown area at FIT-Nashville and have had many requests to return to the Brentwood/Franklin area. Starting January 4th, 2011 we will begin classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm at the Cool Springs YMCA. We will be holding these classes in a perfect envrionment including padded floors and conducted by great Krav Maga instructors. To celebrate our return to the YMCA we will be offering a special Self Defense seminar on January 15, 2011.

On Thusday Novembe 11th., FIT-Nashville celebrated a local award and had an open house and appretiation party. A fun time was had by all. Your Krav Maga Self Defense Nashville team was all together.

Congratulations to our newest Level 3 Krav Maga students in Nashville. On April 18th, 2010 we conducted our first Level 2 workshop and test in our Nashville location. All who participated work very hard as Michael reviewed techniques and tested participants on the skills they have been developing over the past months. Congratulations to Tom Steward, Russell Kirk, Dave Smith, John Helton, Chris Miles, Caleb Ross and Chris Hollingsworth as they all PASSED! Also great job to the others who participated in the workshop as well!!

New Faces Leading Some Classes Including New Full-Time Instructor Michael Hooker

You may have noticed some new faces in the instructor line-up for Nashville Krav Maga. Michael Hooker has joined MSKM as a full-time instructor. Michael has been with us since the beginning (over 6 years) in Memphis as a partime instructor. He will be leading classes in both Memphis and Nashlle. Welcome Michael as he gets to know all of our awesome Nashville Members. Also, Chris Hollinsworth and Tom Steward have been long time students almost since the beginning of Nashville Krav Maga. Now they are preparing to become instructors. Paden Piery has also been helping with some classes as well. Chris and Tom both plan to participate in the first round of instructor training in Memphis in February. You may see them helping lead classes as they train, prepare and get more experience before they are expected to perform at a very high level in Phase A. We wish them our best as the continue to train and prepare for this awesome experience in February.

Nashville Seminars a Huge Success

Fun was had by all who participated in both the Women’s seminar and the Handgun Defense Seminar in Nashville on September 26, 2009.

Our ladies learned many new techniques and principals to defend against attackers!!

Cool Springs YMCA Location is Moving July 1st.

It’s Time! After more than a year of building our Krav Maga Self Defense program in Nashville in two separate locations it is time to move into our permanent location. Effective Wednesday July 1st, 2009 we will centralize all of our Nashville area classes at FIT-Nashville located at 125 12th Avenue South.

We have enjoyed steady growth and have had great retention. Several members have also promoted to the next level. Demand for our program continues to increase and we are responding with this next step in our evolution in the Nashville area.

Our new location in the south downtown area of Nashville will offer many benefits including a centrally located facility to better serve the community. This move enables us to increase the number and types of classes we offer. Along with beginner classes offered Monday – Thursday evenings, we will offer completely separate advanced classes. Class times will be staggered allowing maximum flexibility as well.

Effective May 5th Krav Maga Classes at the JCC has moved to Fit-Nashville

Due to the overwhelming response and demand for our classes – We are excited to announce a location change for our Krav Maga classes in the JCC location. Effective Tuesday May 5, 2009 we will move into a new facility called Fit-Nashville in South Downtown Nashville.

Why the Change?

* Based on many requests for a more centrally located area of Nashville.

* To solve the challenge of the frequently asked question ‘must I be a member of the Jewish community to participate’.

* Provide a growth path and the ability to offer more and different classes in the near future.

* Prevent future class cancelations related to the twice per year extended Jewish holidays that cause the JCC to close for extended periods.
